Certified Advocate Description

A Certified Advocate is a heart patient or family member of a heart patient and in good standing with Mended Hearts. Certified Advocates must follow the following protocol:

Certified Advocate Training Modules

  1. Positive attitude and behavior that represents Mended Hearts/Mended Little Hearts in a positive way
  2. Advocacy experience or passion for learning about advocacy
  3. Ability to articulate verbally his/her personal heart experience and story in a variety of settings
  4. Collaborative and flexible manner in dealing with others who have differing political views or backgrounds
  5. Ability to travel on occasion and join meetings via webinars or telephone
  6. Willingness to advocate for specific policy objectives that impact patient lives, as identified by Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts
  7. Willing to take only approved Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts initiative information or printed materials into meetings
  8. Willingness to engage elected officials only regarding specific topics that Mended Hearts/Mended Little Hearts has identified and to never allow personal political views to be a barrier to engagement
  9. Willing to consistently provide information about meetings and engagement opportunities that are attended
